Lion Helen was married to Lion Anthony Casaclang for 34 years making their home in Vallejo, CA. They had two children, Lion Mark Anthony and Aileen Joy, and two beautiful granddaughters, Jaidyn and Joy. Lion Helen lost her beloved husband, Lion Anthony, in July 2017.
Lion Helen graduated from the University of Northern Philippines in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree. Earned a Master of Social Work from San Francisco State University; Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University; and is currently enrolled at the Argosy University working for her Doctorate in Education in Counseling Psychology. Lion Helen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and works as a Mental Health Clinician at the Solano County Health and Social Services, Mental Health Program .
Lion Helen is affiliated with numerous professional organizations including National Association of Social Workers, CA Chapter; President of the Pilipino American Social Workers Association; and is Vice President of the Pilipino Bayanihan Resource Center.
Lion Helen first became a South San Francisco Golden Gate Lion in 2002 and has served in many positions at the club and district level including: Club Secretary, Club President, Zone Chair, Region Chair, Guiding Lion, and Vice District Governors. Lion Helen has been recognized for her service with 100% Secretary Award, Club Excellence Award, and Club Service Award. Lion Helen is a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Lion Helen attended the Lions Leadership Trainings: MD-4 – 2nd VDG Lions Leadership Training in 2017; LCI – Advance Leaderships Lions Institute (ALLI) in 2017; MD4- Lions Leadership Training in 2018.
