Burlingame Lions Club
It is with great sadness and sorrow that Lion President Kevin Osborne and the members of the Burlingame Lions Club inform our District Lions Family and friends of the passing of one of Burlingame’s finest Lions, Lion Dan Edward Andersen, Jr. Dan was stricken with ALS a number of years ago, but put up a valiant fight, continuing with Club and District duties throughout the progression of his illness.
Lion Dan was a member of the Burlingame Lions Club since 12/1/2003, having been sponsored by Lion Past President Glenn Mendelson. Lion Dan served with honor, grace and distinction in every capacity he served in while a member of the Burlingame Lions Club, including;
Burlingame Lions Club – Committee Chair for a number of large events, including the Oktoberfest Celebration, Club Board Member, Club Secretary and Club President.
Peninsula Council of Lions Clubs – Council Secretary, Bulletin Editor and Photographer
District 4-C4 – District Zone Chair, District Photographer and Chair of District Lions Information
The Burlingame Lions Club honored Lion Dan with not only a Melvin Jones Fellowship, but with a Club Life Membership, an expression of the love and admiration that very few Lions ever receive from their Clubs. Lion Dan was an ethical, focused and committed Lion, a member who was highly organized and could get things done. Lion Dan loved to serve in, and support the Burlingame Lions Club, the Lions District and especially the Burlingame Community, as well as those in need everywhere.” The Burlingame Lions Club was blessed to have had Lion Dan as one of the members in our Club. As part of the Burlingame Lions Club family, Dan will be forever loved and missed.
Born in 1940, Dan is survived by his loving, caring and supportive wife, Carolyn, and their adult son, Danny.
At the request of Dan and his family, funeral services will be private.
The family requests that donations in Dan’s memory be made to the Local Chapter of ALS research, the local Chapter of Mission Hospice or to the Lions Eye Foundation
Lions Eye Foundation of CA-NV 2340 Clay Street, Room 500, San Francisco, CA 94115.
Cards or similar expressions of sympathy can be sent to the surviving family, C/O Carolyn Andersen, 728 Vernon Way, Burlingame, CA 94010.
