:District 4-C4 Convention 2021

Dear District 4-C4 Lions,

After careful deliberation, with feedback from our members and in consultation with both the Governor Team and the Red Lion Hotel in Redding, the Convention Committee has decided that the 2021 District Convention will be virtual.

While our greatest desire was to return to our usual in-person celebrations, in the interest of maintaining the greatest degree of public health and safety, the committee decided that this is the best course of action.

Please continue, though, to save the dates of May 14-16, 2021, as we are planning several online activities which will enable us to both conduct our usual district business and enjoy some celebratory entertainment.

Please note the following changes:

Elections

Voting will be by mail before the convention. Elections of the Governor-candidates and changes to the Constitution/By-laws will be by mail-in ballot which will be sent to each club’s designated Delegate(s).

As always, district clubs must be up to date in their payment of dues to LCI, MD4 and District 4-C4 in order to vote. All dues should be posted as paid by April 15, 2021. Ballots will be mailed to the delegates and must be postmarked no later than May 7, 2021 in order to be counted.

Clubs need to report their delegate slate to the District. Emails will be sent to each club President and Secretary with of the number of delegates each club is entitled to based on LCI delegate requirements as of April 1, 2021.

On Saturday, April 24th, a Candidates Forum will be held from 2-4 pm. This will give District members a chance to hear our Governor-candidates speak on the issues and their hopes and plans for our District. Ballot measures will also be discussed by the members of our Constitution and By-laws Committee. Members will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Further details will be forthcoming.

Entertainment

The committee is hoping that clubs will choose to participate in the fun and entertainment that has always made our convention so unique and enjoyable.

We plan on holding both the Amateur Skit and Barbershop Quartet events. We are asking the clubs that will be taking part in these events to email Entertainment Chair PDG Eugene Chan eugenechan4c4@yahoo.com of their intent to participate by April 12, 2021. Specific details will be forthcoming. Please use your talent and imagination to make your acts as creative and fun as possible!

Once again, please plan on joining us May 14-16, 2021 for our virtual convention! Let’s get together to celebrate all the accomplishments and good work we Lions have done despite the difficulties of the past year. Covid was an obstacle but it couldn’t stop us from serving the community.

We serve!
