The District sadly announces that Lion Gail Ann Gavello passed away peacefully on July20,2026 in Menlo Park. She originally joined the Menlo Park Host Lions Club which merged with the Menlo Park Live Oak Lions Club. At the time of her passing she had completed 22 years in Lions. She participated in many Lions activities including the District Youth and Community Activity tickets, the Sunday Farmers Market, Club Student Speakers Contest and was active in recommending items for her Club to consider helping with donations. Her biggest donation was over $8,000 to be used for Community Giving. She was a customer of the Sunday Farmers Market and was always interested in what the Lions were doing for the community. She was involved in other community groups.
A mass was held for Lion Gail at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Menlo Park on Friday, August 7th with a Memorial Mass planned at Sacred Heart Schools this fall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made in Gail’s memory to the General Endowment Scholarship & Financial Aid Fund at Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton (www.shschools.org)
The San Francisco Premier Lions recently announced that Lion Emmanuel “Manny” Monje passed away earlier this year in March. Lion Manny joined Lions In 2023 and served as the Club’s Tail Twister in 2025-26.
Our deepest sympathy to the families of our deceased Lions. In their memory the District will donate a living tree to be planted in a California forest.
